Meet your Charleston Tour Guide
I’m Rachel, a licensed Charleston tour guide and the heart behind Signature Charleston.
Before becoming a tour guide, I was a teacher, and that part of me never really left. I’ve always loved storytelling, connecting with people, and helping others see things in a new way. Leading Charleston walking tours feels like a natural extension of that. I get to bring history, architecture, and local stories to life in a way that feels welcoming, relaxed, and easy to connect with.
Signature Charleston grew from a simple idea: to share my love for this place and that the best way to experience this city is through its stories and culture.
I especially love creating private Charleston tours for couples, families, and small groups who want something more personal. We can focus on architecture, hidden corners, photo stops, history, or simply enjoying a beautiful walk through the Charleston Historic District at a comfortable pace. We can stop for a beverage slightly North of Broad, or a pastry from a bakery in the French Quarter. The possibilities are endless.
Charleston is a place that stays with people. My goal is to help you experience it in a way that feels authentic, welcoming, and full of stories you’ll remember long after you leave.
I’d love to share Charleston with you.

I believe the best tours are personal…and FUN!
That's why I intentionally keep my groups small, allowing plenty of time for questions, conversation, and those unexpected moments that often become guests' favorite memories. Rather than rushing from one landmark to the next, we'll slow down, notice the details, and discover the stories that make Charleston so unforgettable.

I offer three types of experiences:
Public Walking Tours – Small-group tours, typically limited to 8 guests, for a more personal and interactive experience.
Private Walking Tours – Perfect for couples, families, friends, or corporate groups who'd like a tour all to themselves.
Create Your Own Experience History x Culinary x Culture x Shopping…completely customizable! Love architecture? Hidden gardens? Revolutionary history? Charleston's beautiful churches? Local food recommendations? We will focus on what you love most.

Most public walking tours begin at historic Charleston City Hall, unless otherwise noted in your confirmation. If a different meeting location is planned, you'll receive those details ahead of time.
-
Most public walking tours last about 2 hours, which I believe is the perfect amount of time to experience Charleston while providing great value.
If you need to leave a little early, just let me know and I'll point you toward a convenient place to wrap up.
Private tours are completely customizable, so we can create the perfect length for your group.

The tour is a leisurely walk through Charleston's historic district with frequent stops along the way. We spend just as much time enjoying the stories, architecture, and hidden details as we do walking from place to place.
Most guests find the pace very comfortable, but you should be able to walk comfortably for about two hours, including occasional uneven sidewalks, brick streets, and cobblestones.
-
Absolutely! Families are always welcome. The tour is best suited for children who are comfortable walking and able to stay engaged throughout the experience.
If you're wondering whether it's the right fit for your family, feel free to reach out, I'm always happy to help.
-
I'd love to meet your four-legged family member! Dogs are welcome on private tours, where we can tailor the pace and route to make the experience enjoyable for everyone.

Pack your sunnies!
Charleston is best explored on foot, so comfortable walking shoes are a must! I also recommend dressing for the weather: a hat and sunglasses are wonderful on sunny days, and if rain is in the forecast, toss a small umbrella in your bag.
A water bottle is always a great idea too, it does get a little toasty in summer!

Charleston weather can be unpredictable, but the good news is that passing showers usually move through quickly. We also have beautiful churches, historic passageways, and covered spots where we can duck inside or under if needed.
If the weather looks like it will truly take away from your experience-steady rain, thunderstorms, or other severe conditions-we'll happily reschedule your tour. If we're unable to find another time that works, I'll gladly provide a full refund.
